Gianluca Fondriest (1986) is an archaeologist and museum educator. After graduating from the University of Trento (2012) with a thesis on the characterization of raw materials used for ceramic production in the Neolithic period in Trentino, he completed a Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in Museum Education at the University of Roma Tre. After graduation, he started working professionally in the field of archaeology with the company Arc-Team, performing survey missions of structures related to the Great War in Trentino and South Tyrol, emergency archaeological excavations (from prehistoric to the modern age), surveys, 2D and 3D documentation. In addition, since 2015, he has worked as a museum educator on behalf of the Department for Cultural Heritage – Archaeological Heritage Office (Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali, ufficio beni archeologici) of the Autonomous Province of Trento, and in 2018 began a collaboration with the Education Services of “Castello del Buonconsiglio”. In the last three years, he has participated in the curatorship of several exhibitions at Casa de Gentili (Sanzeno) and Palazzo Assessorile (Cles). His current research, as part of the project “Written in the landscape. Places, traces and memories of the First World War in the Dolomites of Sesto (WiL)”, deals with the identification, the GPS survey and the three-dimensional documentation of the evidence of the Great War in the Dolomites.
